Who can help?

IVC welcomes any adult (age 18 or older) who:
  • Has an interest and compassionate concern for older adults in our community
  • Respects various faith traditions
  • Is willing to work with people of different faiths or cultural backgrounds

Volunteering with IVC is a flexible service opportunity. You can help as often as you like, on an occasional basis or weekly. There are many ways you can help, according to your interests, physical abilities, and availability.

IVC volunteers provide many important services, such as:

  • Driving clients to medical appointments or worship services
  • Escorting clients on doctor visits
  • Grocery shopping
  • Running errands
  • Friendly visiting
  • Conducting home safety checks
  • Telephone reassurance
  • Helping clients manage their correspondence
  • Snow shoveling
  • Preparing IVC mailings
  • Assisting in the IVC office (receptionist duty, data entry, etc.)

How to get involved

As a faith-based initiative, Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers recruits volunteers primarily from religious congregations. Faith communities that embrace the mission of IVC are cordially invited to join this growing ministry. Congregational volunteers are recruited to provide assistance to their neighbors in need, representing both their congregation and IVC.

However, IVC welcomes anyone who is interested in lending a hand. You can choose to join IVC through a congregation, professional affiliation, or service group, or work as an individual, community-based volunteer. IVC provides training, ongoing support, and recognition for every volunteer.

If you, your community group, or congregation is interested in volunteering with IVC, please call 412-345-7420 or email us at info@ivcswpa.org.
